The Long Exhale

I stop and listen

On high alert

And all of a sudden I realise

I forgot to breath out.

Was it fear?

Was I scared?

Am I under threat?

Not externally, not now.

It is the internal landscape which holds my fear.

It is vast, powerful, moody and joyful.

Dare I unveil the full depths of my being?

Dare I navigate the deep water and dive with curiosity?

Do I trust the compass that sits in my heart,

My gut,

My womb?

Does it know the way?

Inhale deeply

Exhale...

I take the plunge and realise that I am not alone.

Others too are afraid.

The women who stand beside me on the Earthplane

The women who have gone before me

And the women yet to come.

They are our mothers, our grandmothers, our ancestors and our daughters.

We are all afraid.

We have been called

Witches and hags

Sluts and whores

Less than and inferior.

And we believed.

We believed their words

We believed their actions

We took their labels and stuck them on ourselves

We gave ourselves labels too

For we are not blameless on our path.

But now we open our eyes

We stop and realise how long we've held our breath

And we exhale.

We start to to remove a label here and there

And see what life feels like without it.

Empowered we rip a few more off

Realising that the labels were keeping us in a small box

That never really existed

It was of our making.

And we exhale.

We chose to believe them

We chose to live by their judgement

We chose to stay still

When we should grow

We should be seen

We should rise

And we should dance.

Our sisters cheer

They've been waiting

They cry with us

They help us move our limbs

They embrace our emergence

And we keep searching

Keep spreading the word

To those yet to wake

That it is safe

That we are waiting

That they are alone

They are held

By us

By all women

They too can exhale.

And we are ready to acknowledge our Heart's Desire

We leave the box behind

Transmute it into flames

Hand it back to Mumma Earth

Allow it to transform and transmute

Cultivating what we need

To take out next step forward.

We are pioneers

We are navigators and

We are adventurers

Embracing each other

Rising and allowing others to rise

And finding the path that lights our soul to dance along

Compassionate Heart
